Youngsters stiring up the player pools, searching for a Win!

To what levels must the Youngsters stoop for victory

The Youngsters want any young talent, check out the catchy Poster

Latest efforts of negotiations could see the Thug of Thugonomics, Alex "Rough you up bad" Roy dawning the youngsters jersey. Will he generate a power making the youngsters youngstars?

The youngsters who have slowly watched themselves drop five straight in close games, look to generate some talk. On Sunday, July 30th 2006 they negotiated terms on contract with Alex Roy. The question is will they get him for Thursday night Hockey Night in Burtt's Corner. What other surprises are coming this Thursday?

Come on out and see for yourself, I see a couple surprises gracing their presences this Thursday. See you There!
Can the youngsters win?

Things Heating up do to a Topic Of Debate on Coaches Corner!

Things beginning to Heat up at Coaches Corner

Is the Referee the debate? or is it the youngsters team?

Whats the talk?

The topic of Debate on coaches corner this week was referee calls. I see no problem personally with our ref or the reffing system, but Don Cherry (Christian Haines) seems to have a bone or two to pick.
First topic was a disallowed goal from two weeks ago where there was a whistle at the same time as a goal. The penalty call, one that was delayed on the youngsters team, and due to the disallowed goal, the youngsters lost 5-3 to the Old Guys. Don’s(Christian’s) remarks were that this “bogus bad call, ruined our momentum and thats why we lost”. Then he skipped to another instance of a disallowed goal.
He talks about the evening of this Coaches Corner, and he tells us about the goal that Christian scored....while he was still serving a penalty that him and Murray both had called on them. As a result he was placed in the box for 2 minutes. Now note that the debate was because Christian left the box Early and never served his full time. While he was on the floor illegally he scored then was placed back in the box for 5 minutes for delay of game and not serving his full time, and his team lost in Overtime.
I don’t know but the Coach has a lot of mouth, I kind of wonder about him sometimes. But just something to put out there for the Coach for next week.

Team Penalties are: 49 Penalty Minutes for the youngsters (All Called On Christian and Lucas) 52 Penalty Minutes for the Old Stars

I don’t know but I think the Coaches next topic should be how Christian and Lucas should stop being like Jack- In-Da- Boxes!!! Burn....I think, Yesssss! Cya Next week...
And Remember kids:
“If the women don’t find you handsome they’ll at least find you handy!!!”

The Foreman of this crew leads effort and beats the competition!

Foreman Has Crowd Member Erin Douthwright Shocked as a result of his Game!

Foreman shuts Down the Game

Making 82 Saves in the night alone and with Foremans Defense making two defensive stops along with two Defensive Giveaways. Foremans shocks the Crowd!!! posting back-to-back wins on the evening allowing only 3 Goals. Amazing performance.
Because of the amazing goaltending, and play of the old timers in the last 5 games, the old timers are on a five game winning streak. I encourage the youngsters to get some recruiting done, because at the pace the oldies are going it don’t look like anything is going to break(accept our backs) and the only team that may be cause to injury is the youngsters as their leading scorer Christian Haines twisted his ankle last game.
Bring a friend, look forward to August 3rd/2006 when we next meet, see you then!

The MOST Intense Hockey Night YET!!!!

Here Are Your Burtt's Corner Church of Christ
Pepsi 3 Stars Of the Week

1. Dan Foreman GP 2 (4), Saves 84(113), Goals Allowed 3 (9), 3 Wins, 1 Loss

This is the first time that a goaltender has gotten 1st Star. Let me explain, he deserved this with good reason, taking this to overtime, bailing them out several times and the old guys were lucky to have him in goal on this night. A couple times I wondered though if his defense should be in goal, as Darrell made 2 goal line saves for him. I guess that cancels out with the two giveaways, and one of those two went by...sorry Dan (from Darrell). But well done on this night For Dan “web-slinger” Foreman. It seemed like every shot taken was in the webbing of his glove.

2. Murray Spencer GP 2(4), 3(9) Goals, 6 (15) Assists, 9 (24) Points,
4 Penalty Minutes

Murray played and sweat like a Old Man!!!, but we all know he is young at heart. Murray’s Birthday is Tuesday I believe, the big 31.....The Mur-Man definetly made hype in his return game. He played some good hockey, but a challenge to him next week is to make 31 points in honor of his young age.

3. Brad Rogers GP 2(5), 5(9) Goals, 3(10) Assists, 8(19) Points,
0 (4) Penalty Minutes

Brad with NO Penalty Minutes, but still the same he took a beating receiving 3 welts from shots to the back with the ball, all in one play. This is true hockey. When you can take a hit, or a shot in the back for your team, and love it! That is called heart, and Brad plays with lots of heart.
Brad was clearly deserving of mention and in his two weeks playing he is now 2 for 2 on the Pepsi Star of the week list.
Keep It Up!!!

A Goalie's Showdown

I will leave it to Darrell to give you all the specifics of Thursday night but I will tell you this, it was a Goalie's showdown! In game one Ashlee and I went toe to toe and what a battle! (once again I will leave the results to Darrell!) Same with game two with Mackenzie coming on in the third period! Anyway here are some pictures, enjoy!

Tough GUY!!!! or Sleepy Head!!!

Born June 28th of 1991, this boy was born a pure Haines. He is a tough guy, but unlike some Haines' he has Hockey games when he is a tough guy!! unstoppable and he has those times like last week where he posts low numbers "a sleepy head".
High hopes going into the season for Christian Haines, posting 4 goals, 8 assists in his opening night.
Will Christian get back on his Game tonight at Hockey Night In Burtt's Corner.
Last week Christian was at a low of 1 goal on the night, but he brought his penalty minutes to the high of 27 minutes.
Will Christian continue to live up to his name of "Jack in the Box" given to him by Graham Crandall. Can Christian lead in more then the Penalty Minutes.
I guess we will find out, bring a friend, come watch or play!
and ask, Is Christian a Tough Guy!!! or Sleepy Head?

The Hype is Here!!!!!

After Missing out on last weeks hockey action, we anticipate the return of all-star scorer Murray Spencer to the line- up!, the question is will the hype add up or will we be let down.
Murray is currently standing with 2 Games played on the season and in those two games he had: 6 Goals, 9 Assists, 15 Points and stayed out of the box!
With Murray's 9 Assists in his 2 games playing he is tied in a neck and neck battle with the leagues leading point man and goal scorer Graham Crandall.

Murray Hope your Ready for the Hype!!!!

3 Stars of Week 2, July 20th/2006

Gilles winding up for the big Slap shot!!!!

The Dianamic duo of the Old Stars, is it Mario and Crosby?....no WAY!

Out of the Two Weeks of Hockey that we have already enjoyed at the KVMS ARENA, I must say that this week, July.20th/2006, was the hardest hitting one.
It to many seemed uneven but in all games this week the Old Guys Rose up in Triumph over the young. 3-0.
They truly worked as a team on this night and that is why I am proud to present you with your Burtt's Corner Church of Christ Hockey Pepsi Stars of the Week!

1. Brad Rogers 4 Goals, 7 Assists, 11 Points, 4 Penalty Minutes

Brad is a rookie at this, jumping in and playing 3 hard shooting gritty games in his first outing, and we are looking foward to seeing what more he has to bring to the table tomarrow night.

2. Gilles G 5 Goals, 5 Assists, 10 Points, 2 Penalty Minutes

Gilles is our custodian and he makes sure that things are happening where they should be both on and off the floor, because he cleans up trash both on and off the floor(Christian Haines) and boy did this guy keep the young stars scorer off the board with his defensive/offensive drive. The amazing thing is that this was Gilles first night and he was Awesome, Keep It Up Gilles!

3. Graham Crandall 5(16) Goals, 5(9) Assists, 10(25) Points
10(19) Penalty Minutes

Then We have Graham Crandall, the leading league goal scorer and point man. This guy is unstoppable. He is like Gordie Howe, he is a all around goal scorer, he has scored on probably about 90% of the shots he has taken, and he is crazy out there. Not to mention the tough guy of the Old Stars to, and that probably makes him the best on the team or any team at the two week mark.

Looking forward to what tomarrow holds and we can still hold more players if anyone is interested, so remember to just show up with your best game and play hard. $5.00 a night to be a player, and $2.50 per goalie. The Fellowship is great and if we all contribute, I guarantee it will be a load of fun.
May all we do be Pleasing to God, see you tomarrow night!

Coaches Corner July 13th 2006

There were lots of Festivities at the first addition of Thursday Hockey Night In Burtt's Corner. One Festivity we were proud to have taking place was Coaches Corner.
Starring our Host Don Cherry AKA "Christian Haines" and his quietly well played companion Ron Maclean played by "Jacob Ebbett".
The Topics of discussion on this night were such as upcoming, uprising Stars...Like Lucas Brown.
Along with much discussion on why Christian was above the law in the sense he never felt he was deserving of any penalties at all. It was a very well rounded time, and we really got to hear about what to look for in a game at the KVMS Arena on a Thursday night of Hockey Night In Burtt's Corner.
As Don Cherry would say "Remember Kids never Check from behind, its not cool" and as I would say, man this kid is Crazy! AMEN!....

July 13th/2006 was a SUCCESS!!.. Here are our BCCOC 3 Hockey All-Stars

To those who were'nt picked as the evening All-Stars, your day will definetly come with lots of Hockey left in the Summer.
Our Stand out players or Burtt's Corner Church Of Christ All-Stars for week 1 are:

2. Graham Crandall 11 Goals, 4 Assists, 15 Points, 5 Penalty Minutes

3. Christian Haines 4 Goals, 7 Assists, 11 Points, 18 Penalty Minutes

Again if you were'nt a Star this week, maybe next week your name will be up for a Star of the Game. There is a special 4th Star for tonight only, and mostly for the simple reason that Her outstanding Goaltending made the Game a whole Lot more Fun for Game Two.
Star # 4:

4.Ashlee Albright 12 Saves, 6 Goals Allowed, 2.00 Goals Against Average

Special Thanks to her for stepping in on short notice and putting on a show in goal to lead the Old/young guys to victory.
See you This Thursday Guys!!!

The First Ever Hockey Night In Burtt's Corner Was A BIG! Success

July 13th, 2006 The First Ever Hockey Night in Burtt's Corner. On this post I want to thank all who participated in the First Hockey Night in Burtt's Corner.
We had a lot of people out for the first evening and it would be great to see many more new faces in the meetings ahead.
We will be meeting every Thursday from 6:oo to 8:00 and continuing throughout the summer. The cost for those interested is $5.00 a person and we would love to have any new people out.
There were 13 people out on the first Thursday and in organizing this sports ministry I hope to see us fill up the place to its limits.
I am one who has strong belief that you can worship God in many numerous and wonderous ways and I believe you can please God by having fellowship together in Sport too.

Acts 2:42-47

42They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. 44All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. 46Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

This was the first recorded meeting of the Christians and here we read of them coming together worshipping God through Prayer, the breaking of the bread, and also the giving of gifts. It is my belief that God finds it pleasing and as an act of Praise to Him for us as His people to interact in the same way, even so having our Fellowship through sports.
We our a very different generation of people and I think that as we see the first century Christians worshipping God in this way, we to can worship God in Fellowship of Sports under His name.
God has Blessed us Much!
I Pray He Continues to Bless this ministry in our Community, come on out We would love to have you.
